What can I say?
Ararat was beautiful, horses carried my big pack for me and my body
acclimatized excellently to the altitude!!! :))) One
fellow unfortunately didn't make it to the top because of altitude
sickness and another fellow had to accompany him back down, so two
of our group of seven didn't make it to the top. :( My hiking group consisted entirely of Turks, some of whom spoke a little English and others none, so it was fun and interesting |
| using my broken Turkish to communicate. It really would be emotionally difficult to survive in a foreign country without an expat community. I learned fluent Chinese when I lived in Taiwan and I plan to take a Turkish course here in August to get some basics of the language here, but there were and are times when you just need to talk with someone from your homeland or who can understand better where you're coming from and why things feel strange to you. I'll have a lot more to say on this topic when I write up my Athens trip from last week. |
